This project will transform a typical Cape-style home into a spacious and modern living environment. The existing structure, characterized by low first-floor ceilings and sloped ceilings on the second floor, will undergo significant alterations. The entire second floor has been removed to allow for increased ceiling heights on the first floor, enhancing the overall spaciousness and light. A new second floor will be constructed with full ceiling heights, allowing for a more open and functional layout. Additionally, we will be making first and second floor additions to improve living space and functionality. This renovation will not only elevate the aesthetic appeal of the home but also significantly improve the living experience by maximizing natural light and creating a more comfortable atmosphere.
In a few bold strokes, we transformed this tired 1980s house into a clean, functional home. The kitchen now opens seamlessly to the living space, enhancing flow and connectivity. Contemporary railings complement the new windows and doors, creating a cohesive look. An accent wall and a new fireplace serve as focal points in this expansive area, adding warmth and character while inviting relaxation.

The goal was to create a fluid and useful space that instilled a sense of pride in the community while providing an enriching setting that fosters growth in both the individual and the community. Although budget was a great concern, efficient planning techniques were used and close attention was paid to detail in order to maximize the various functions of the library.
The scope of work included the full renovation of an existing 9,000 square foot retail space. The detailed custom millwork circulation desk, customized window trim and furniture complement the surrounding architecture.
New Public Plaza
The first phase of the Deer Park Public Library Exterior Rehabilitation focused on creating a public entrance plaza, window replacement and other site improvements. The existing Library entrance was a crowded, sterile and unwelcoming space. The new plaza is an accessible space that features built-in stone reading benches and a gathering space with new lighting and new irrigated raised planters. It was designed to embody the idea that a library is more than a repository of books and computers. It is a space that should reflect and engage the community’s imagination and create serendipitous opportunities; whether it became a pleasant place for people to hold a conversation, eat their lunch or simply read a book.
Design for a Community Center
Light played an important role in the design process for this multi-leveled building. The classrooms and offices were positioned on the north side to provide a consistent level of diffused light. The large clearstory windows on the upper levels offer great amounts of northern light to the common spaces as well as the gymnasium on the lower level. Integral with the double height steel structure of the gymnasium, a series of exterior sun shades control the sunlight while flooding the entire building with light.
